Translator's Notes:
[1] Well, more literally it says the city "wriggles/squirms 24 hours a day." ^_^;;
[2] OK, the last two lines in this verse were a little odd to translate 
    because there is no definite connection between "hijou kaidan" (fire 
    escape/emergency stairs) and the rest of the lines, plus the function (if 
    any) of the English phrase "sign of the times" can be debated as well.   
    You see, Japanese song-writers often like to throw English phrases into 
    their songs that don't have any connection at all to the Japanese lyrics. 
    So if you disregard the English phrase "sign of the times" as being 
    disconnected from the rest of the lines, it's possible to translate these 
    two lines as "A crowd of eyes is looking for the fire escape," with the 
    English phrase "Sign of the times" thrown in there as a bit of an oddity...
